Active Engagement Components

Check Your Understanding
Shockwave component with branched feedback, depending on student responses.
Step Training
Progressively more difficult problems in a sequence designed to show students specific situation analysis skills.
Representation Transformation
Shockwave component asking students to re-express solved problems in different ways: verbal, pictorial, graphical, as well as mathematical.
Hands-on Laboratory
At Home experiments involving observation and measurement of simple events with online data analysis.
Predict/Observe/Explain
Shockwave component with embedded movie. Students watch the first part of the demonstration, predict what will happen next, then observe and explain the result.
Virtual Laboratory
Video analysis using Logger Pro

In the Logger Pro activity below, students record the time record of the position of a fan cart that appears in a video window. The results are viewed as a table and as a graph. In addition, the time record of the velocity is calculated and tested against a linear mathematical model
